Our Story
Born in practice. Built for a real problem.
Unlike many startups, we come from the field and went looking for a solution to a problem, not the other way around.
Knowledge leaves. Every day.
The idea for EPINOIA grew out of many years of experience, particularly in mid-sized industrial companies. Both of us – Gudrun & FriWi as the founding team – kept witnessing the same story over and over: a seasoned engineer, an experienced production manager or an indispensable knowledge holder leaves the company. And with them, decades of experiential knowledge vanish: how things used to work; who that person was you'd always call; where exactly you had to knock; why the team decided against that one supplier even though the quote was so competitive; why that other process didn't work out even after three attempts; which criteria ruled out purchase order ABC at the time … the list goes on and on, and the knowledge is gone. Not because nobody wanted to capture it, but because nobody asked the right questions and recorded the answers.
The missing ingredient: good questions
We knew this had to be solvable with technology. Not with yet another wiki or yet another document-processing machine. But with software that, thanks to the availability of LLMs, finally had the missing piece. We taught the software how to ask good questions and what good questions even are. How to have a conversation with experts on equal footing. How to structure knowledge, prepare it and pass it on in a way that suits the audience.
